    WTB WW2 Garand

    Howdy all -

I'm wanting to buy a '44 or earlier shooter, the more original/correct the better. I'm not looking for a mint collector's piece - I intend to shoot it and I want one that's fairly clean with just honest wear & tear and not overly beat up. A little light pitting under the wood doesn't particularly bother me and Springfield or Winchester makes no difference.

I'm new to Garands and don't know what all to look for yet, and I know there's a lot to learn about these, but in just the little time I've had to spend on here I can see there's a ton of combined Garand knowledge on this site. I've ordered some of Scott Duff's books so maybe I can have some idea what I'm doing and learn to identify various parts as original, which go with which rifle and what date range, identifying reproduction or fake parts, etc. I'd sure appreciate any other advice or information from you all and if anyone has such a rifle to sell or knows of one, I'd sure be interested. Thanks in advance!
