The WW2 "blue Marlins" are collector items. Some 4,2 million Springfields had Marlin barrels installed during the shortage due to the
Korean War - Duff wrote an article in the GCA

Just so you know Marlin made barrels for the US Govt. twice. First time was during WWII and quality was hit or miss. Yours is from the second batch that was made in the 1950s.
WWII marlin barrels are kind a scarce and are worth more as a WWII legit replacement barrel.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I was thinking this might be the case. I remember reading a number of years ago (yea, I have had the barrel that long) that they were desirable. I probably read something along those lines and interpreted to make me feel better after I bought it.

I might be wrong but maybe $100-$125. I never saw a demand for Marlin garand barrels. I would just watch gunbroker or gunauction and see if something similar comes up for sale. Your best bet would be to find someone who just wants to build a shooter and not a correct garand. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Thank you for the reply jak and RDS. The drawing number is 6555448 and yes, the gas port pads are chromed. What would be a good price to sell it at? I was going to use it but don't have the receiver anymore.

The drawing number starts with 65. It a 1950's replacement barrel. The gas port pads should be chromed.

I never had one. All I have heard about them is that some are good shooters and some are not.
Maybe one of the other guys will know more about them.
