    Dad's 03

I was fortunate enough to be given my father's collection of rifles and pistols after he passed. I'd thought would share some pictures starting with this one.

    That's a nice one. I have a soft spot for '03s.

Have had a abiding interest in 03 and 03-A3 rifles since I bought my first 03-A3 in 1980. Yours is a real beauty. That it belonged to your father makes it even more significant. Sincerely. bruce.

Pop's must have been a shooter?

He was, but I never saw him shoot his bolt actions. He had an 03, 1917 Enfield, Colombian Mauser in 30-06, also a Mauser from Czechoslovakia, not sure what caliber.

If you still have this one, start a thread on it, I love these.

Nice 03a3! Peep sites were very popular in the 50s, I have a rem 03 with the same.

Nice 'A3 for sure, Shoot it and honor your father's memory. I have the one my father bought from the DCM back in '56. It's my 3X600 match go to rifle.

My Dad was on the third wave to hit Okinawa in 45, he was a motor pool mechanic, and assigned to recover any Japanese vehicles that were left on the Island. He had been on Island for 3 weeks. During a vehicle recovery, he stepped on a rifle, in the mud. Thought it was Japanese but turned out to be a 1903 Springfield. Pop cleaned it up greased it up wrapped it in oil cloth and stored it after dis assembling it in his foot locker. He ended up having it made into a hunting rifle, I still own it, and still hunt with it. Also own a Hawaiian territal guard 1903. Old National guard piece, bought it in 1970 when I was stationed on Schofield.you have a nice 03 my 03 don’t look that nice. Need to work on it, but it shoots great, I guess that’s what counts. You Troopers have a nice holiday! AJ
