    very early 1903 rebuilds

These three examples all came from the CMP a few years ago, none were drill rifles. The finish on these receivers is as they were purchased from the CMP. One required another barrel because of damage caused by blanks. The two Rock Island receivers have pre WW1 barrels and the Springfield has a WW1 barrel. While the value on these rifles is low because they are rebuilds. I like them because of their condition and low serial numbers

I have always liked the script style S/N on the early models.
    Looking for 16" SA bayonet Mfg 1918, S/N 1045220

Beautiful rifles. Very much like the turn of the century elegance of those LN receivers. Perhaps one day... use one to build something in .22LR... or maybe a cast lead rifle. Dreams! Sincerely. bruce.

This, and I like the better quality parts of some components and more meticulous machining on the early rifles.
