That is a very nice clean rifle! I've been shooting the 03-A3's since 1980. With a good barrel and crown, you should be able to obtain excellent on target results using just about any decent ammunition. I've got a SC 03-A3 that went through arsenal rebuilt where it got a new Rem. 1944 two-groove barrel. It will stay in the 10 ring of a SR-1. It shoots extremely well with the Greek HXP M-2 sold by the CMP. Wish you all the best with your new rifle! Sincerely. bruce.

Just a thought. If you handload, take a look at "The Load" by C.E. Harris. I've used his recommended Red Dot load of 13.0 gr. with different weight bullets in my 03 and 03-A3 rifles. Works very well. There are other nice cast lead loads that you might want to try out. I've done extremely well in club level vintage military rifle matches using 165 gr. bevel based flat nosed cast lead bullets and modest charges of Unique (what I had available). Inside of 200 yds., the heavier cast lead loads are extremely effective on small to medium game. Sincerely. bruce.
