Current mfg bayonets that fit M1?

I am looking for a bayonet...not really worried about being completely authentic, so a current production would be fine. Does something like the Ontario knife M7 fit the lug on a Garand? what would be a good serviceable blade that fits?

    I thought the M7 bayonet was for a M16.

CMP has used M5A1 bayonets for a garand if you don't mind a worn one.

If you can find one, the M5 and M5A1 are the most recent Garand bayonets, and make a decent field knife when properly sharpened. There's probably relatively new ones still available, but you may pay closer to $80 or more. As to what steel was used, I'm not sure. The M7 M16 bayonet was made with 1095 carbon steel, not sure if the M5 used the same

Sarco has original rebuilt cut down 10 inch bayonets with new repro wooden grips and repro scabbard.

I guess a lot depends on what you intend to do with the bayonet. The M5 and M5A1 were designed to be a bayonet, a fighting knife and a utility knife. I personally prefer it for my SHTF kit with the Garand. The older types seem to use a softer steel, they will take an edge, but dull faster and are too large for utility tasks.
