Why is it that the spline on the M14 trigger housing gets chewed up, but I never seen an M1 Garand trigger housing with a chewed up spline? They both serve the same purpose.

I'd have to agree with IRON WORKER, the M1's trigger group is much longer and has more leverage against improper movement, as well as easier to remove as an assembly because of it's size also. Many M14/M1A owners twist and rock the trigger group back and forth to get it out if it's too tight.
