Anyone doing any builds on PTR-91 receivers?
That would be a cool project, but building a "G3" is a lot different than building an M1 or M14 I think. The thought of pressing a barrel in, like an AK, then checking headspace with feeler gauges is completely alien to me.
I had a Century Cetme. It was a special 1 of 500 edition. It was supposed to be the best of the best Century Cetmes. They were assembled with all new surplus parts. I was not impressed with the workmanship. The tube end of the carrier was crudely ground in an attempt to set bolt/carrier gap.
Here is a Century Cetme i bought in 2002.Its a pretty good build for a Century. It came with a nice Cetme wood stock. Here i have added a surplus G3 Stock and sling. That was $19.95 from cheaper than dirt.I figured i would try a surplus stock out.Its had 1500 rounds threw it.Never a FTF or FTE.But it did have the hammer spring break.I bought a few new hammer springs for it.Thats about it all in all a nice rifle
I just recently (Past 6 months) bought a Century C308. The new ones are PTR Made recievers and I have to say I'm very happy. I picked mine up for less than $500 brand new and I enjoy it. I put the long cocking handle on it and the carry handle, and I've mounted up a simple bushnell 3-9x scope. I would like a heavy buffer for it, but the PCS has been out of stock for a long time it seems. I also want a port buffer because it does really mangle brass, and I would need the weld on port buffer due to the welded on picatinny rails, but thats all in the future when I care enough to do so.
