    M14 magazine

I have had these M14 magazines for a long time and noticed that the OM marked magazines have that smooth shinny blue-black
finish while the other magazine are just parked either light or dark. Anyone know why the OM magazines have this finish

A long time ago, I was buying KTM mags from the local fun store for $20.00 a pop. These mags were stored side by side in a cardboard box with nothing in between, only a light coat of grease or oil. I suspect after all the handling and shipping from one place too another over the years the mags rubbed together enough that the high spots of the manganese wore down against each other as the flat sides have a smooth almost polished blued finish. The rib in the main body and the floor plates are all as you would expect a non-reflective black manganese finish, the followers are virgin without a brass drag mark.

I have a couple of UHCs that are exactly the same.

Yes C.M.I.s are outstanding and all I recommend, but they are new current production magazines and not original production USGI.

I have 5 BRW S-1 MARKED Mags, 2 KTM'S, AND 1 HR-R They are all Gray/Blk Parkerized. These were supposedly liberated by an unknown soldier in Basic Training in 1966. Who knows for sure. These are the BRW S-1's Click image for larger version

Yes, Sir those are legit USGI BRWs. The only BRW S-1s I had were counterfeits. Thanks for sharing pics.

My original question on this post was about the smooth shinny blued M14 magazines (this one happens to be a OM)

Has anyone else encountered these smooth shinny blued magazines ? If you ever come across BAR magazines, you can still find the same type of smooth shinny blue color too

Yours look like my KTMs, as to finish.
