    Very special M21 DMR

Had some fun in the shop this morning putting a very special M21 DMR together. See if any of you Bula people notice the differences between this one and others.

Bula Defense Systems M21 DMR receiver # 1600, Bula bolt, Bula NM 18.5" barrel, USGI trigger group, op rod, flash hider, gas system and rear sights are USGI Winchester M1 with the telltale rough machining they were noted for. And of course one of Hawk's fine kits. Photos were done this morning.

Just really enjoy nailing these things together. A light coat of resin gets the barrel vise ready. Then some painter's tape on the receiver to prevent marring. Badger Ord indexing gauge used in conjunction with electron level to torque in the barrel.

        Excellent, as always, Art!!
At first glance, what stands out to me about this "M21" receiver is that it has a rear sight rather than the newer rail for an optic.

The M21 DMR receivers have a rear sight pocket and a removable rail. This is a standard receiver marked as an M21 DMR but no rail. It's the XM21 that has the rail machined into the receiver and is not removable. I know, confusing if your not up on all the variations.

Oh right, look at that. Neat variation! I had a couple of the very early ones, but I'd have to dig out the old pix to see which variation they were. I believe one of them was the actual serial #2 right from Jeff's vault!

Nice. I have a bunch of ser #2, #3 and #4 in pairs for a number of their models. Sort of collected them since they started up. Only been in the vault one time when I visited Bula a few years ago.
