North Korean AK-47 magazine

I found this photo in early 2015 on the internet and nothing else since on these North Korean helical magazines. The North Koreans used this magazine on their copy of the AK-47 known as the Type 88 it was stated these magazines were in service since 2010. Estimated to hold 100 to 120 rounds of 5,45x39mm. I remember there was a US designed 9mm firearm that also used this type of magazine some years ago plus a black powder US lever action rifle too. Also heard that the Russians originated this design but lost interest and the North Koreans continued working on this design

That's the MOST interesting way to turn a carbine into a better club that I've ever seen! I'd certainly hope their conscripts don't have to carry much (if any) more than one extra magazine.
