Hello all and thanks for this great resource!
I was never in the real military but spent almost four decades with the Air Force(73-80) and Air National Guard (83-15) so I've gained an appreciation of our military history. ;-}
After watching Band of Brothers every Memorial Day for 12+ years (a tradition my late wife encouraged) I finally had to have a piece of that history. Besides Band of Brothers for inspiration my Dad was a member of the "Chosin Few" and two of my favorite books are "With The Old Breed" and "Helmet For My Pillow". I ordered an Expert Grade (I wanted a shooter) from CMP and it arrived last week. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a rifle with an April '45 Springfield Armory receiver which might have seen service in the Pacific or Korea. I was more surprised to see from what I can tell all of the internal parts that are SA marked are WWII 1945 or earlier manufacture. The op rod and rear sight are post war. My next one will have an original barrel and stock!
Anyways, thanks again for this website!
