Welcome to the forum from NC!
I'm a complete newb in regards to M1s... I assume M1thumb is when the bolt bites your thumb during loading? Am I close?

Welcome, great name, hope you enjoy the forum. I was at my local range the other day and the range master showed me his M14 thumb. Someone had a stuck cartridge and he offered
to help clear it. As a vet, makes sense, but he was much more used to M4's and M16's and forgot to watch out for the speeding bolt. It got him really good. Went to the local emergency
services provider (not wanting to go to a hospital for stitches, too many questions...) and they would not treat it, said they can't suture. Can't suture? What good is an emergency doc who can't suture. So he asked for Steri-strips. Worked like a charm. The scar, though a fairly large one, healed really well. I ordered two packs of 10 one for may range bag and one for the house.
                    They are very effective.
Anyway, enjoy the forum and watch the thum....
