    New Guy in Montana

Hi everyone. My name is Joe and I bought my first Garand today. Its an old CMP that a fellow sold me Thats in amazing shape and hasn’t been fired since it was recieved from the CMP in 1982. It still had the cork in the barrel. I think the receiver was made in December 1943 as its a Springfield with SN 2488221. Can you confirm?

Nice to meet you all. I look forward to learning the culture of M1 Garand owners in this forum.

Very nice 1950s rebuild. Any electric pencil etching on front of left receiver leg?

In '82 it would have come from the DCM, not the CMP.

Thanks! There's no electric penciling that I see. Through pictures sent include all the writing on the rifle that I can see without disassembly. Is there any thing we can conclude from the markings?

You need to remove the action from the stock. If it has arsenal rebuild marks they will be on front right side of receiver leg.
