I'm sorry to hear of your father's passing.
Please feel free to post any questions, information, and photos that you may have about your father's M1 Garand.
    Best of luck to you.
    Cheers from NJ.

Welcome to the forum sir. You came to the right place for sound advice. Like they said above, post some pics - maybe do the basic field strip (or full strip if you can) and post some well lit photos. Show drawing number markings where possible. The collectors here usually can take that and go to town. Amazing how much detailed info you might get. Now I'm not a Garand expert; I am an owner. But I can say that if there's provenance, you can sell for more. The more detail you can put together, the better picture you can paint. See UsMilitaria forum for examples. Was your father a combat vet and was this his issued rifle? If so, what time frame, what military unit and are there related military items? Best of luck.
