The Garand is a new chapter in my life. I'm an old time highpower, IPSC and PPC shooter (remember those? LOL). When I started highpower in early 80's all my buds signed up for a DCM Garand except me. I wanted an M1A and saved my money. In hind sight, probably not my wisest decision. I ended up with a friends DCM SA Garand under some unusual circumstances and it's been in the back my safe for over 25 years. I read an article about Lee Harvey Oswald and the Garand he qualified with. The article said "Do you have this gun?" I checked the serial which led me to wanting more info about mine.
Long story short, I learned about the IH Garands and they were all made in Evansville, my hometown. ...open the flood gates. Now I've gotten obsessed about IHC history. I won an IHC in a auction in Dec and got several books for Christmas. Since then I've been starting to restore it to correct parts. Every marked part (and some unmarked) seem to be IHC, but maybe not correct for the serial. I think it was an honor guard gun as the buttplate is worn down and the barrel looked like a sewer pipe but there is little to no mechanical wear.

That's my story. I hope to learn a lot and hopefully contribute to the forum.
