    gunsmithing project

I have a nice original second variation gas trap gas cylinder but missing the front sight. The last original front sights that
I have seen available (a few years ago) were all around 2K. The repros are not very representative and another alternative
was found - make one ! Not really difficult if you have an original to copy. Used a Southbend lathe with milling attachment
    and two cutters

Now that's some talent right there!!!
You better mark that things as a REPRO!! LOL!!

do not have a side by side comparison . The originals use to sell for 2K and would think a lot more now, easy to spot the fakes but
a fake is better than nothing. Most in photo are fakes

            A front sight, for $2,000+??

Now I know why JD said to mark it a repro lol.

I'm really having a hard time swallowing a 2k pricetag for a front sight..........gas trap folks are no joke in their collecting habits!!

Yes, but the associated bragging rights and pride of ownership are worth it in the Garand world to own a gas trap!
