Garand not cycling when I have a clip in it

So I recently bought a M1 Garand from Nuova Jager (Breda M1 Garand) and test fired it last weekend, but it seems to have a problem cycling.
When I load a single round in to the chamber and fire the round ejects normally. But when I load an 8 round clip and fire the bolt only goes back maybe an inch and leaves the empty case in the chamber.
Any suggestions what might be wrong?

Possibilities: loose gas plug, gas cylinder or piston diameter(s) out of spec, bad op-rod spring, bent op-rod. I've heard many different reasons. Interesting thing here is the difference with clip in vs. clip not in. I'm sure others will chime in, but while you wait, here's one reference with specs: http://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-inspection.

      Welcome to the forum.

What ammo are you using ? Did you clean and properly lube the garand ?

Possibly the clip(s) is/are not seating completely and rubbing on the bolt bottom. Are you using USGI clips or after market? Some non-USGI clips are total junk and not worth keeping or trying to use.
