    Hoppes No. 9

Is it bad to leave Hoppes No 9 in the Barrel over a long period of time (like over night) before removing or wiping it off?

You can leave Hoppe's #9 in the barrel until the cows come home. It won't hurt a thing.

When I'm cleaning a bore, I let the Hoppe's #9 do the work. Coat the bore, let it sit a while, wipe it out with a couple patches. Repeat if necessary. I leave a film of oil inside the barrel afterward.
I do not go scrubbing with brushes etc. The fewer passes of the rod down the barrel the better.

I usually use a plastic bore brush. of which I wrap with a thin paper towel (sometimes sprayed with Rem Oil). Also I have a bore guide at the muzzle

Copper dissolved by solvents is a bluish color. That's the cleaner at work.
