.308 Special won’t load a full enbloc

Its a used parts rifle with refinished parts with new barrel and wood. Its not uncommon to find broken pieces of spring wedged in bottom of op rod. E-mail CMP customer service , not sure if you will get a answer for awhile as they are closed because of virus
Someone else may come along with a idea of a fix

It was certainly worth a try. I cleaned the operating rod tube but nothing. This is essentially a brand new rifle, so,I wasnt holding out hope in finding something in the operating rod tube.

Remove op rod and spring. Check that there is no debris or broken piece of spring stuck down in op rod

So, I have one of the wonderful CMP .308 rifles. It feeds and extracts flawlessly and is accurate. However, I can’t get and 8 round enbloc in it. 7 rounds, works exactly as designed. 8 rounds it’s just too tight I get a first click but the enbloc is not fully seated and just pops out.
