    First Garand

Traded for a M1 Garand Springfield Armory, receiver serial number places it to March 1945, in 308 caliber with a bright blued barrel with sharp rifling, operating rod is marked NM, rear peep sight is knurled, action does not seem easy to remove from the stock, did not try and force it, but can see grey bedding internally. I like the look of the rifle and want to shoot it soon.

Did wiggle the action out of the stock the only bedding material is at the receiver end Don't see any markings on the 308 barrel but looks well done from the bottom side. Noticed the trigger pull feels lighter with clean break than I would expect on a military trigger, the trigger is blued steel. Is it possible it had some trigger work on it?

Absolutely, many regular gunsmiths, and shops that specialize in M1 Garand/M14 work do NM spec and lightening trigger jobs. It's a safe guess that if it feels a bit different and already has other major work done on it a trigger job was done as well. It's a nice looking rifle, enjoy!

Did find a barrel marking on the 308 barrel but can only be seen with the rifle action open and locked back, is on the barrel between the the lower stock and top wood by the operating rod

            marked 4 GR 10 308 Win 12 93
