The last GHS cartouche with the large ord wheel? Stock grain doesnt look like walnut, and ord wheel is an odd size compared to the 2 sizes that were normally used. Also looks way too clean, ha

Blackbird, you are correct, it is the last stock pictured #4. It was stamped by Terry Smith (Utah) around 1990. It was an original Lend Lease SA GHS stock that someone
had sanded down so Smith restamped it. When Rick B. saw it, he noticed the crossed cannon stamp was not correct in details, but correct size. The other stocks are as follows:

#1 SA GAW (NOS I think) from the Great Lakes Naval Base wood shop

#2 SA GHS from a Nov 1941 Lend Lease rifle

#3 SA GAW from a CMP 2.4 mil Springfield M1 rifle

My, very nice otherwise, LL was likewise re-popped by some "nice" person. The GHS stock is real, but the cartouche unfortunately is not. I'll have to compare my rifle with Robert's fourth picture.

Is Terry Smith the man who had the jig that was used to fabricate new-production "early style" rear handguards (w/out the relief cut)? I believe a man from Utah was referenced in my thread asking about a new-looking early handguard.

The first WB looks like it was made last week. That is so clean.

George, that first WRA WB cartouched stock was cleaned by the guy that I bought it from, he used some type of cold water solution. He want to show me the cartouche. Most of the stocks had the old patina color which I leave alone.
