I'm trying to make a solid pin for the lower band on WWII Garands. I believe they switched to a roll pin in later years but WWII pins should be solid or dowel pins if I
am correct. I made up one today from a drill, chucked it up in my drill press and turned it down to .130 which seems ok but perhaps a bit small. Next one will be .135.
Length is .550. Can anyone check my on those dimensions with an original pin? I would imagine these could be purchased but it's fairly easy to turn one down this way
and they are a good quality steel. Most suppliers offer 1/8 or .125 pins, too small, or3/16 .1875, too large. It's pretty easy to make these this way but would like to confirm
dimensions. Thanks for any help.
