    revision 8 and 9 followers

This has been posted before, but it appears that no additional revision 9 followers had been reported. To date there are only two know rifles with revision 9 followers: s/n 533252 reported by Tony Pucci and another serial number 542256. These are quite rare and there could even be a #10 somewhere too Click image for larger version Name:	P1010033_0033.jpg Views:	11 Size:	61.5 KB ID:	29963 Click image for larger version Name:	P1010038_0038.jpg Views:	12 Size:	81.0 KB ID:	29964

Was there any reason why the "8" was in the center section of the follower instead of the usual position at the top ?

from the data that I have: first follower marked 8 was in the middle and in Nov 1941 the end marked 8 was in the system, expect overlap too

more followers only these are Winchester, at least three variations of slides used during 1941

first is very early 20 degree back & 45 degree nose, middle is 45 degree front & back believed used until mid 1941 and last is common short nose Click image for larger version

I would consider your #8 correct

All the data sheets that I have on LL rifles never state where the 8 is located: middle or rear

          Awesome!

          Thank you RCS!

I did check my original 380931 Lend Lease rifle and the follower has the 8 at the rear, but there is going to be overlap for awhile on these parts. I really doubt anyone is going to tell you your follower is wrong. I did check my 613211 that has a Type 1 lock bar, have this rifle for a long time, it has a revision 8 at the rear

Early follower and slide, this was a gift from the late James McCollum some years ago. Note the bottom flats are beveled which is not common.

I heard that serial number 4016 had one of these beveled followers Click image for larger version

                Found some info:

BLL M1 Serial 379472 has an 8 in the middle.

Some more info and a question:

Serial 319285 shows an unmarked Follower? Is this correct? I thought it should have an 8, or as this thread has suggested, a 9 ?

                  Many thanks!

Canfield's book states the revision 8 entered into service in the 231000 serial number range

Very difficult to find a number 3, I have only seen two in many years. There is an unmarked 3 too Click image for larger version
