    late 1941 NOS bolts

This is what they looked like and those that have Lend Lease rifles also have these bolts from this period.

bolt face and lug area polished bolts are revision 2 J9A and RE2

I have a Dec. 1941 M1 rifle that I've been slowly "restoring" for a few months now. I needed a -2 bolt with an RE4A heat lot and finally found.....it was NOS still in the foil, but had been partially opened to check the heat lot......go figure!! Not too long ago, Bubba hooked me up with a nice RE4A that actually matches my receiver very closely. LOVE NOS parts!!!

Good timing, last night I was thinking I had an earlier bolt for the 1941 Springfield I was working on and found it on another Garand... it's a -2SA J9A. Got lucky, seems ideal for this 8/41 rifle.
I'm thinking it's a re-park but still looks good in the receiver. Lucky find..

I knew 2SA bolts had polished lugs and bolt faces but never heard the reason why. Anyone know???
