PIC Heavy* drilling down a Springfield Garand

    Afternoon everyone,

I bought this Springfield Garand from my Brother-in-law, after my Father-in-law's passing. I was lucky enough to receive an IHC Garand myself, and have posted it in the post-ww2 forum for information.

I've never owned a Garand before, so I'm excited to now have two! Any information that could be provided to me would be greatly appreciated.

What I have found so far (please correct me):

serial puts the receiver as being made in April of 45

Barrel stamp shows March of 45

It appears to me to have a newer stock

Outside of that, I understand that the numbers are heat lot numbers, but I dont know if all parts are correct, etc.

Thank you for any insight you can offer!

    Curtis

rifle is a mixture of various WWII and Postwar parts. Enjoy her for what it is, get to the range often

Yep, nice rifle, I'd be out shooting that one a lot. She has a beautiful stock too.
