    Barrel Makings

    Hi

I've been using Scott Duffs book and I'm really enjoying it. I've got a rebuild with a May June 1945 receiver and what I believe is a Jan 63 barrel. From the parts its a rebuild mix master. I'm having trouble with the barrel markings and thought someone might know what the numbers mean. The markings read. SA 8836 43, then 1 63 Y10 PM. I know SA is Springfield I assume the 1 63 is the barrel date but what is the Y10 PM. My 12-44 barrel isn't marked tis way.

8836 43 is the drawing, or part number. Y10 is the material lot number. P is "proofed". M means the barrel was magnafluxed.
