    Winchester follower and slide

How long was the 45 x 45 degree slide in use on the early 1941 Winchester rifles ? Speculation by some is that it was used until around June of 1941. Anyone have additional data ? Early data sheets on these rifles really will not indicate the type of slide found on the follower

I believe the key factor in identification is the front face profile: both the Springfield marked 2 and the unmarked Winchester had the 90 degree profile while unmarked Springfield revision 3 and marked revision 3 have the 85 degree profile. Easy to spot when you set them on end on a flat surface.

The 45 x 45 degree slide is unique only to Winchester, I just got another one that a friend found for me at a Reno NV gun show. They are around

Are you talking about the back of the slide tapering off and not being blunt? This is how I was told the identifying factor as WRA

Bill I believe he is talking about the face itself. Did you sell all the long nose slides you posted before?

I didnt realize the long nose 45x2 was possibly gone by June 41, I’ve been looking for one but may not need it.

Curt, you are right, I am talking about the follower, the slide can be changed and should not be considered in identification. Original SA marked revision 2 followers had the 45 x20 degree slide and could have been modified or changed over time. It is believed that the very early Winchester also had un-marked revision 2 follower with the 45 x 20 degree slide. During 1941 Winchester changed the slide to 45 x 45 degree than to short nose and 45 degree. The follower remained as the un-marked revision 2 with the 90 degree profile on the front face

You have Winchester followers & slides. Just check a 1942 Winchester follower with the small CM stamp on the bottom, it is identical to your followers/slides
