    Oww, oww, oww, ...

I always hesitate discussing current auctions - hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes.

I usually go thru the pictures first and read the description second. How long did it take you to see why I say 'what a shame, ...'?

The fact that it is such an absolutely incredible example makes it even more of a shame. Wow, ...

That does not surprise me at all. The army just considers them rifles and not collector items.

About 5 or 6 years ago I volunteered for a week at CMP in Anniston. I was helping disassemble old drill rifles for parts. At the other end of the warehouse there were crates of
garands that the army wanted to be converted to drill rifles. I asked why the army wanted functional garands to be turned into drill rifles while CMP had crates of old drill rifles
being stripped for parts. I said why not give these drill rifles back to the army. The answer I got was that "It doesn't make sense what the army does, we just do what they order us to do".

    Looking for 16" SA bayonet Mfg 1918, S/N 1045220

I purchased a drill rifle at the CMP last year that was not as nice (new) as this Rifle but it was almost in 85%+ condition. It was a 43 Rifle with all correct parts etc. uncut oprod, sight seal on the gas cylinder, etc. I understand it, but it is sad just the same.

Speaking of drill rifles .... has anybody seen the Geico commercial at Buckingham palace? Some dufus comes in to relieve a Buckingham guard ... who's holding ... ready for this? An M-1 Garand drill or parade rifle. Here'e the commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0trkDwWtpE

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Found it humorous.

I hate that stupid ass commercial. Crap like this is why the rest of the world hates us. That dufus needs his ass kicked for dropping his rifle.

All it needs is another receiver and a lower price.........no one would do that.
