    IHC help

    Got a 5,046,xxx IHC

    Question is the stock/brl.

    Barrel is LMR 9/54
    Stock 2724 Julian

Do these jive with the serial?

Trying to hammer down a born on date is fun with these..

    Thanks for any info.

Since no one who actually knows a lot about IHCs has responded, I'll stick my neck out. First the stock, everybody seems to agree that the stock number are some sort of Julian numbers. Bob Seijas thinks that they may be reverse Julian numbers in the case of the Overton stocks that were being used on the IHC rifles. In that case your 2724 would seem to be from after mid-year in 1954 which is reasonable for the barrel date. For the barrel, dates from April to November 1954 are shown in Scott Duff's book for rifles in the first 75K of the 5 million block. So yes, it looks like those three components could reasonably belong together.

Very Interesting...I too have a IHC postage stamp and my serial is 50469XX - CMP North hand select 2018 with a SA 44 barrel, AN stamp and 2 Ps on grip, one circled one not, no cartouche I can see and what appears to be a rack number "10" on stock behind receiver - warn DARK woodwork but very nice.
