Put it through a dishwasher wash with a bit of dishwasher soap and bleach and, based on the almost hidden figuring evident in the wood, you will end up with a beautiful, full figured birch replacement stock after you RLO it repeatedly for a couple of weeks. Just a standard wash, not a heated wash. After the wash place it in a warm room to dry for about a week before finishing. You'll also find that almost all existing dents will be lifted in the wood. Don't dishwash the hanguards.

This is what your stock will likely look like after the dishwasher stripping and RLO treatments.
