    Ferro Machine and Foundry

Anyone ever seen a Ferro Machine & Foundry (Ohio) M1 rifle barrel ? These were manufactured as replacements and sent to Europe during the mid 1950's. I did see a Browning BAR barrel with the circle F and dated 5-56 years ago. You would think, by this point in time some of these circle F barrels would have surfaced.

I think it would be nice to have a rifle with the Ferro circle F stamp and dated barrel, there are some around, just have not surfaced. Ferro did make the cast M1A1 carbine butt plate and carbine recoil plate. The butt plate is marked with the Ferro circle F stamp and little if any collector interest.

About 30 years ago I was tasked with sorting and grading a large quantity of M1 Garand barrels. In that pile was one circle F marked barrel dated in the 1950s. I have also examined .30 cal. BMG parts with the circle F mark. Of all the M1 Garands I have examined I have never found one with a circle F marked barrel.
