Folks - I have just acquired my first M1 Garand via a trade with a friend. My friend got it at a local gun show from a man who said that this M1 belonged to his father who had lived in Ohio and had recently passed. The original owner had purchased the rifle from the CMP at Camp Perry, and there is paperwork to document this. As far as I can tell, this was one of the later production rifles. The stock is not pristine, but it came with an extra Boyd’s stock and the metal is in nice shape. Rifling and groves in the barrel are sharp, clean and look new.
Can yall all tell me anything about this one? Is it one that I should use as a shooter?
