'55 SA M1 fair price to buy at?

I would appreciate any advice as to whether this would be a fair price for a '55 SA M1. I know very little.

The seller is asking $950. ME and TE are unknown, but I assume they are going to be in the <2 range. I will measure before purchase.

    Thanks.

Is within normal price range for a rifle in very good condition with low barrel wear and no Import marks

Looks like a nice rifle. Inspect it carefully it maybe a "straight rifle" It was made at a time when SA was taking their time making them. Nice find at nice price.

I bought it for $900. It is very clean. No CMP paperwork, but the stock is stamped with the CMP cartouche and is numbered. Barrel is SA 1955. Trigger group and op rod are SA. ME is about .625.

          I am pleased.

Correction: The stock does not have a CMP stamp. It is the three stars/eagle stamp and the circle P stamp on the "pistol grip".

I am a novice. What do you mean by a "straight rifle"?

By a "straight rifle" I mean it is as it left SA in 1955.
