    Type II National Match

Picked up this documented Type II National Match rifle on a gun forum. Just arrived and I have looked it over very carefully and can say it probabaly has not been fired since being built. There is absolutely no finish wear in the op rod tracks or normal rub areas. If I am coming across as bragging I apologize I really am not. I guess I am just surprised that it looks so much better than the pictures I saw when I bought the rifle. When I have time I will take good detailed pics and post them of the whole rifle
Unfortunately its so darn nice its going to have to be a safe queen

        That's sweet!
Unfired like I'm looking for, every safe needs a queen. There are tons of worn ones to do range duty. Congrats on a great score.

I thought I could shoot it until I saw the condition in real life

Yea, I know we talked about it and thanks for the sneak peek pictures. Deep down inside I still feel let down its not going too get any range time and feel the sun of the firing line. I was very excited for you getting it and bringing it home I do understand the collector/investment side but being a shooter I know you feel the same inner conflict your will power is much stronger than mine I couldn't resist the urge.

My break in offer still stands, I will be gentle. And when the 7.62mm M1 gets home your going too have too make up for this one, like a kid at Christmas is it here yet!!

              Safe queens be DAMNED!!!
Bill, can I hate you now or do I have to wait in line?
Seriously, nice find. Too bad it'll never see the light of day. There's just some thing about being the first one to fire a rifle.......

If I didn't have other nice rifles to shoot I would be more tempted to fire it.
I just built a 7.62 match rifle out of mostly NOS parts,I did all the work except sent it off to be bedded. Should have it in my hands at the end of the week. Tis is the heart of the build

Nice Type 2 NM rifle, I was reading your post on milsurps about it, I would not fire it either. About two years ago, I set-up a deal for my friend to sell an unfired Type 1 NM rifle that he got out of a doctors estate in 2001, serial number 6094444 with SA 6-56 barrel. Still original Type 1 bought at Camp Perry in 1958, sling was still in the box too.

Interesting that I have SA s/n 2004464 with a S-A 9-43 dated barrel, all WW2 but shows some service

I was just handed a National Match type 2, never shot. It was my buds who just passed away and left it for me. I have two cmp's but this one is special.. It is bedded and not a scratch on it. Gave it a wipe last night and had a talk with my bud. Nice rifle but I would rather have my friend back.
