Muzzle Breech has Mark from Bolt or Exractor

Brand new to the M1 Garand. Upon careful examination of my gun, I noticed that the breech has been hit by either the bolt or extractor. Has anyone seen this before, should I be concerned? Thanks

Personally, I don't like it. I would contact James River since they rebuilt it.

I cant really see much from your pictures but it is common to see alittle peening at top of chamber face/rim on many rifles. Is this where you are seeing dents?
Can you post a clear up close picture?

              Bill,
Look at the breech face at about 2:00, just under the skirt. Looks to me like it could be an extractor out of spec.

Thanks all! When I get home from Alaska, I'm going to gently scrape it to see if it a metal peen or whether a mark from the newly applied parkerizing. Thinking of using some plastigage to determine if it's a direct strike from the extractor, or scraped in by the sharp edge of the bolt. Trouble is, I never noticed it before now

I like you idea to use plastigage. I never would of thought of that. You must be a engine rebuilder.
