Match Grade Garand - needs scope

I have my dad's rifle - and it is super tight and clean, and I'd like to add a scope to it for hunting deer and hogs. This rifle is just too nice to sit in the gun cabinet and not use. What would you recommend for scope and which mount (brand and style)? I'm a newbie and while I'm a former Jarhead like my dad, I'm not super knowledgable on scopes and mounting. I'd like to not have to mess with the iron sites so they can be functional as well for quick, up close shots if needed.

Any help appreciated and where to buy would helpful, too.
