nice wood always looks good.. Top stock is fancy walnut by Winchester for a no trap butt plate,
second is an Overton birch (gift from !st Sgt many years go) and bottom is M14 birch. I have

Some early Winchester deluxe walnut and still with no trap butt stocks for the solid butt plate. Some advanced
Winchester collectors have stated that this fancy wood came out of the custom shop when production started.
Both WRA RS and WRA WB stocks are pictured, there were two types of WRA WB no-trap stocks 1) the thin
wrist pistol grip and 2) the large pistol grip stock

I like nice wood stocks but I gave up trying too find matching hand guards for the flamed Burch main stock I had on my M1 so I sold it off. For those of you that may have a connection with someone who can turn a blank into a stock or have advanced pocket knife skills check out www.gobywalnut.com they specialize in Oregon old growth black walnut. They even post pictures of there wood blanks, they even have more than one wood type like Bastogne and Myrtle.

Years ago I was able to grab a lot of fancy walnut handguards, more rear than front hanguards. I have a photo of a Winchester front
handguard that I will attempt to post to show an example.

I use to build a lot of single shot rifles and made stocks for some of them too, photo shows a Remington with Calif walnut and a special
trigger that I made to improve the pull, had to bend the bottom tang too as this was a South American 43 cal rifle at one time.

That's probably the nicest front handguard that I've ever seen......just insanely awesome!!!
