Got an idea for one of the new rotted CMP Rifles.

I was thinking, if I go to the CMP North Store and find one of the newer rifles with the rotted receivers, AND it has nice parts, I could buy the rifle, scavenge any good parts off of it for other things, then use the receiver for a cutaway model. I already have the folliwing bad parts: Firing Pin, Hammer Spring Housing, Op Rod Spring and another thing I can't remember right now. Oh. I have a sad little Winchester Op Rod.

If this project comes to fruition, I've got a half-dozen trigger guards laying around just collecting dust. I'd donate one for the shipping cost.

Buy it to shoot it. Just because the receiver looks bad doesn't mean it won't shoot well. These days a Garand is a Garand. Trying to make it anything else but a shooter is wasted effort. At least there's still Garands to buy.
