    M1 vs. M14 Extractor?

Been looking for an image of the differences between an M1 and M14 Extractor? I can't seem to find one. Does anybody have one or know where one is?

I recall there was difference at the start but later Bill Ricca published information that a new designed was developed to fit both M1 and M14 bolts

I don't think there is a difference. At least not on USGI rifles. Repro M14's ??

The M1 extractor is the same when they first came out. They had problems firing blank ammo and modified the extractor just slightly with a bevel cut to the tip of the claw.

I do not have picture of it but i learnt from other forum that only difference was a small bevel cut on the bottom of the extractor to allow firing of grenades with the rifle.

Billy Pyle had drawings that showed the difference in one of his "Garand Stand Report" newsletters

As far as I remember the only difference was the small cut on the claw. I have about 40 or so loose NOS M14 extractors and they all have it.

I started with Garands in the late 80s or early 90s. I know of and have some of the Garand Collector's Association's publications, but never one of these.

This might help a bit. M1 and M14 extractors are not created equal! It's very visible.

That image kind of brings up the original question again. Is the illustrated "Old Style" an M14 extractor, or an M1 extractor?
