The late Mr Findley of Stone Mt Ga had all the M1 stamps plus some rebuild stamps not perfect but got by, his best was the 1903A3 stamps all the small inspector stamps around the bottom of the stock around the front of the trigger guard. Did he take his stamps with him ?
Best SA GHS and WRA WB came from Terry Smith in Utah, bet there still in collections without being recognized as fake
Gman in NJ had a SA SPG that was used for a long time, he did alot of repro gas trap parts too, not the best but sold.
An old retired Korean Marine who had a machine shop in Utah restamped op rods and made fake keystone springs that did not work. His best work was gas trap front sights.
California had Karl K, who made gas trap cylinders plus other gas trap parts also did the cartouches at gun shows
Late Mel Bishop did fake cartouches his lazy R on the WRA cartouches was easy to spot.
Most of the above had poor to good crossed cannon stamps or else the wrong size for Winchester
There were also gas trap cylinders and front sights made in Northern Il, could fool some collectors
Back in the 20s and 30s in NY guy would buy all of the US ammo and arms. 1903s, Krags. Everything he could and had original rifles and some he would put to gether! Called Bannermans! Well he had to move out of the city to an Island in the Hudson river. Eventually he built a castle on the river. He went a little nutty! Well one day the place blew up!. Still parts of it. Google bannerman island!
