Thank you for the reply and info RCS. Greatly appreciated.

Very interesting about the inspection stamp.

Any idea why the P would be in the location in pics?

The stock also has a BA stamp which I believe is for Benicia Armory in the Bay Area.

Sometimes you will find a P without a circle too, photo shows a SA SPG gas trap era stock that went though rebuild Click image for larger version

The BA is a rebuild stamp from Benecia Arsenal which was in California.

Early B A inspection stamp on Springfield Model 1903, first inspection stamp is from the Philippine Ord Depot which was used until 1941 Click image for larger version

Very cool to see the Benicia Arsenal stamp on the 1903. I wonder when they would have done the rebuild or inspection. I plan to do some research to learn more about the Benecia Arsenal. Thank you for the photos and comments.

Here are some additional Benicia Arsenal stamps all boxed in rectangle B.A. - BU, B.A.- BD, B.A. - W, B.A. - WL, no box BA - JPL

          there are others too
