After I joined the Honor Guard at a American Legion they were having some problems with some of them not working after the first shot at a military funeral. I had never done anything with a M1 before joining this honor guard. I had a M14 in Army basic training and in Vietnam. I also have a M1a Socom. I got on line and started reading on how to clean and lube the M1. The problem with those rifles was they were oiled but were not greased. I found a excellent red color grease at the auto parts store. Mobil One Synthetic Grease. Haven't had a problem since.

I've been a Mobil One user for years and I'm down too about half a tub. Its only taken 15years and at the time I think I spent a whole $5 bucks at the auto parts store. Money well spent in my book, I suspect that Lucas would work just as well and for just as long. I'm not hung up on the great grease debate but there is better than the old lithium based stuff and its way cheaper in the one pounders.
Bacon grease works well and keeps the jihad's away at the same time...........
