    New member, old rifle

Hello to All. I just joined and like most newbies, I will start with the dreaded "that's been asked before" query. What scope mount is this. No pics yet so here goes. The rifle is a S.A. Sept 44 issue purchased in 2014. It has the "Tanker" treatment with short barrel and 4 prong flash hider. The scope mount is part of the receiver. There are no screws, bolts or attaching hardware and the finish matches the rest. A set of rings on another piece, both black, attach to the base by removing the rear sight of which I have. I cannot find any web pics of the set up. Clues for the clueless, please. Joe

Pictures would help. Does it look like the InstaMounts by S&K ?

We manufacture two lines of high quality scope mounts: 1. Insta-Mounts for ex-military rifles without drilling and 2. Skulptured mounts for sporter rifles.

    Looking for SA bayonet 1045220

Update! I partially disassembled the mount and it is stamped SK. By itself, it attaches to the rear sight boss and is a cantilever style. The builder of this shorty then tapped into an aluminum block that fits to the side of the receiver and there is a notch in the wood for the point of contact. Very close tolerances as I never saw the edge gaps. The aluminum block is curious. No marks other than worn Parkerizing(?) at the sharp edges.
