    What is this circular dial thingy underneath my receiver?

    Bought a SA Garand, judging by sn, manufactured sometime Feb of 1943. Saw this strange doohickey attached to the stock and I haven’t a single idea what it is. Figured I’d ask here!

    Sorry, bit of research yielded that it is an attachment piece for a grenade launcher kit, specifically the sight.

        Even stranger still is the location of that mount.

          be careful the edges are usually kinda sharp, best to take it off

            Was there a specific spot for these grenade sights mounts were to be placed? like Were these screwed anywhere close to the Receiver just on the Right side of the rifle?

              They are normally located further forward under the clip latch
