The Garand is still a very useful and effective rifle. Glad you're happy with yours. I home many more people buy one and use it, not just a few folks accumulating large numbers.The thief may possess something he stole, but he does not own it.
The owner has a right to take his property back from the thief. -
Im willing to bet our Garand would still be the best rifle in the field in afghanistan were its longer range would be a huge help. It may be old...but its no slouch.Comment

I wouldn't feel under-gunned with the M1 in a SHTF or RW situation.
