Help! A wife trying to make a surprise gun purchase, is it worth it?

Here are some photos of a 2.4 mil SA rifle

Maybe it is the photos as I thought there was more of a lighter gray color by the 2,6 serial range. Depends on where you take photos and what kind of light. The off-set P in a circle starts to be kind of common around the EMcF range and later. My photos shows a almost new SA EMcF stock on a 1,5 mil SA rifle. I also have a 2,77 mil that could have been a "brought-back" by a veteran which is a light gray color but somewhat well worn. Will also post some photos of a nice 2.4 that came out of CMP years ago - only required some minor restoration

I am always suspicious when I see WWII rifles in this condition, although they do exist. I do not like the circle "P" on the pistol grip. The "P" should be centered in the circle and the "P" should be seriffed. The CMP verification letter, which is probably a certificate just means that the rifle was purchased at CMP and not the condition of the rifle or the parts that were on the rifle when it was sold. How much is the seller asking for the garand ?

I see a serif on the P at the top of the letter and if the whole P was evident, it would be pretty centered in the circle. The only thing that really bugs me aboot it is that the P is sideways. Aren't they normally 90° clockwise in orientation (ie: bottom of the P facing the pistol grip)?

Hello! I am looking to purchase a 1944 m1 garand for my husband as a surprise, He has been wanting one for years but wont spend the money on himself. I have done tons and tons of research but have no one to really ask about price since they range from $1,000 to several thousand and up, I know a reassembled rifle without matching numbers but in good shape is on lower end and an all matching with original stock is worth much more. The rifle I am looking at is what appears to be a correct and well taken care of gun. It will only let me post 5 photos but maybe i can add others afterwards. Any and all advice and your opinion on what the rifle is worth would be greatly appreciated. Here is part of the info for gun the seller sent... Outstanding WW2 early 1944 production US Springfield Armory M1 Garand 30-06 with CMP verification letter. No import marks. An all correct, and quite likely mostly original M1 as follows:

Beautiful unsanded SA/GAW cartouched stock with nicely stamped cartouche on left, tiny ordnance wheel at grip cap and clear circle P proof. A beauty of an original stock with matching handguards.

SA 3-44 marked barrel with ME of just .5 and TE of 2.5 with mirror bore. Throat is in the white.

D28 -12SA trigger housing, milled guard, C46-5SA hammer and SA-11 safety

D28 -12 bolt with proper heat lot

D35 -9 SA uncut op rod (curved variation)

Long fork follower rod, 12 follower arm, poppet type lock with P mark and triangle symbol and wide base gas cylinder

Type II rear lock bar sights

Original finish on metal and wood that is excellent with a few handling marks on stock and some marks on barrel.
