Looking for info on my Winchester M1

I’m new to the forum. Looking to see if anyone has any info on the stock markings. MRG on right side. P proof marking under pistol grip without box or circle around it.

    Thank you,
    Jason

brass plate is a rack number, P without circle is stock that went through a rebuild. I have no idea what the letters MRG stand for

Mt Rainier rebuild stamp (Ft Lewis), I have seen MRM also on a M1 rifle stock. Most are just MR stamped third letter is inspector not always used. Alot of M1911A1 have the MR stamp. I believe it started the small arms rebuild late in WW2 and continued.

The bottom location of the rack number might indicate to me that a wall rack was used for quick I.D.
