New Garand Owner here! Stock ID help.

Hey guys, I just picked up a great Garand and so excited to go shoot it! The stock only has these markings on it as far as I can tell. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
I dont see stamps or other proof marks anywhere else. Thanks!

Take a look at the post in Post War Garands section, the one titled "IHC Help". There is a mention of what the number on the stock may be aboot. Might have something to do with a code that indicates year of manufacture and what manufacturer it is like they do for speakers in guitar amplifiers.

      MRusan,
The date stamp on IHC stocks is inside in the bottom of the barrel channel. These on the outside are probably a rack, or inventory number.

That was my other choice, but the other thread intrigued me.

I have a SA Garand from the ‘55ish era With an “R” stamped into the middle of the pistol grip cap location. It has the correct cartouche and circle P in the usual areas. Cannot seem to find any ifo about that either.
