    Blued Clip Latch

I received a CMP service grade recently that has a round nose clip latch. It's a 1.99 SA so it's the correct type, but it appears to be blued instead of parkerized. Has anybody run across one of these?

It would have to have been off the rifle, refinished and reinstalled as a replacement part correct?

It might be a DuLite Winchester ?

This receiver was lead dipped, so maybe it's a result of that process? My three guesses are blued, lead dipped, or Greek black. Cell phone pics aren't the best, but hopefully some can add some insight.

It's really hard to tell. Did you get all of the pictured components together in the same rifle? The bullet guide and the clip latch almost look like that purplish Russian refinish color. Forget lead dipped, as they only immersed the heel of the receiver, maybe 1 1/2", nowhere near the clip latch.

If I had to guess right now, because the bullet guide and clip latch look the same color, and I can't see any wear anywhere (oh, that was too cute,) I'd guess that it was Greek, Russian or other refinishing. The Russian is just because of the color, I've never heard of a Russian capture M1.

Did you receive the short-fork follower rod with it? Holy-moly if so!

The bullet guide and follower arm came on the rifle from CMP. They are definitely dark charcoal parkerizing. The clip latch also came on the rifle, but doesn't have the "fuzzy" texture of the other parkerized parts, so I presumed it might be blued. FWIW, the back has the rough forging with lot number like you see on WWII SA follower arms. So, our best guess is that it might be some type of European refinish of a SA part?

Hey Chris! I wish the short fork came with it, but at least I got it some 15 years ago when they were somewhat easy to find. Hope the 2-44 barrel is still holding up for ya!
